Gala setup

On Friday after Senior Choir, the five boys who are in choir and Brad helped carry up the small stages to the truck so people could practice on them.  After that Mr Horn noticed that one of the stages had a big crack in it and he didn't think that it was safe so we had to go and get Mr Rush to check it to see if it was safe to use.  After we had got Mr Rush he said that it was not safe so he got some wood to fix it.  Next we had to go back to class because it was the end of morning tea.  After morning tea we set up the white elephant in the hall and the hall foyer and had our dance practice on the stage.  After lunch we set up the chairs on the grass for the people to sit on.  After we had done that we went back to class and then we had a game of football on the field.  I showed leadership by staying ontask and completing the task that I was assigned to.

Friday 27 November 2015

Peer mediator

On Thursday at lunch time I was playing cricket but then I remembered that I had peer mediator at 1:10pm.   At 1:10 I looked out for Ryan and he was ready so we got our vests from the other group and since they didn't have an iPad we had to go and get one.  After we got an iPad we started walking around the field to the senior playground because there is lots of problems there.  There were no problems there, so we headed over to the big oak tree and there were no problems there, so we headed to the smaller oak tree and there was a problem but it was about someone pulling out the grass on field.  After that the bell rang so we had to go back to class.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Thursday 12 November 2015

Senior Librarian

On Tuesday at lunch time I had Senior Librarian.  Once the 12:40 bell rang I had not finished my lunch so I had to sit outside the library until i had finished.  Once I had finished I went inside and looked at the trolley and there was lots of books to put away so I said to Mrs Ward if I could push the trolley around instead of carrying the books.  Mrs award said yes so I started putting them back.  After I had finished that I asked Mrs Ward if there was any other jobs that she wanted me to do and she said that there was some new books to stamp.  After I sat down Hannah asked if she could do the books and I do the desk so I said yes.  After that I was time to close the library so we got to go early.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Friday 6 November 2015

Peer Mediator

On Thursday at 1:10pm I told Ryan that it was time for our duty so we went and got our gear. Firstly we started walking around the field and then we stopped at the senior playground to see how things were as there are normally problems there. Since there were no problems we continued walking around the field. When we got over to the big oak tree we told some students to move as there was a game of cricket about to start and then out the corner of my eye I noticed Cody signalling us over to where he was. Cody needed our assistance as there was a big problem with three students which resulted in one student being pushed and another being punched in the face.  Luckily the bell was about to ring so a duty teacher was heading our way and helped us out. I showed leadership by following the Peer Mediator rules and seeking help from the duty teacher.

Sunday 1 November 2015

Senior Choir Music festival

On Friday I got to school at my normal time and once the bell rang I went to class to do the roll and then I went to the music room because we had a music festival practice.  When we got in the music room there was already a lot of people in there so Mrs Harris did the roll so she knew if anyone was not going.  After we did the roll we went and lined up outside the office because we had to go by bus to Horncastle Arena.  Once everyone was on the bus we headed off.  Once we got there we went to a Vbase person to see where we are going.  Once we got to our seats we sat quietly until it started.  Once it had started we had to do some warm ups and then we practiced all the songs that we had to sing.

ON THE NIGHT.
Later that night we had to be back at Horncastle Arena at 6:20 because that was the time that we had to be there.  Once I got there I headed to door 1 and waited with the rest of the Oaklands school choir. Once we were on stage we had to be quite and when the lights went bright we stood up and moved so there weren't any gaps between us.  In between the songs we sang, there was music played by an orchestra and there were other choirs singing.

Overall I enjoyed it because it sounded really good and it was a sold out crowd of about 5000 people.  My Nana, Mum and my brother Liam were there watching. I felt I did myself and Oaklands school proud on the night.

Sunday 25 October 2015

Senior Choir

On Friday I had to get to school at 8:30am because I had senior choir at 8:45am.  Once I got to school I unpacked my bag and then I got my music book and headed to the music room.  Once half of the choir was there we started our warm ups.  Next Miss Harris said that we would sing our new song for a warm up.  After that Miss Harris asked us what songs we don't know that well because the music festival is next week.  The first song that we sang was Slice of Heaven, next we sang was the long white sails and then America child.  The last song that we sang was ring of fire.  After that we did the roll and then it was 9:30 so choir had to finish because the yr 5/6's had Te Reo.

Dance week 1 term 4

On Friday we had our first dance session.  First we found out our dance partners but the teacher played a prank on us and said that they would use the name generator and do the partners right there.  After they had called out about 10 names they said that they were not our partners and they had already done them.  After all the partners were read out the year 8's did the rock and roll real to show the year 7's how to do it.  Next we found our partners and did the dance 3 times.  After that we learnt the steps to the waltz.

P.A.L.S Distinction evidence #4

P.A.L.S
On Friday I had P.A.L.S at lunch time.  When I turned up there was Sam L, Samara and Jonathan asked if he could help so I let him.  All of us made 1 big group because it is to hard with 2 people.  The activity that we did was skipping because it was a sunny day and the juniors like skipping.  Jonathan and I did a long rope and the 2 girls did single rope.  After a while Monique came and helped us.  After that the girls did a long rope because we had to many people waiting and not everyone was getting a turn.  At 1:20 we slowly put the ropes back that weren't getting used and by the time we had done that the bell rang so we went back to class.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Wednesday 14 October 2015

Integrated learning (Wellington)

On Wednesdays we have an interchange with the girls class.  The topic is about Wellington.  There are 4 groups and we rotate every 3 weeks.  At the moment I am doing Parliament.  Today we learnt about the roles and how the people do the roles like speaker, labour leader etc.  When the year 8's go to Wellington they get to go to Parliament and if there is a meeting on they get to watch it and if there isn't they get to walk through the meeting room.  My next step is to ask more questions.

Senior librarian Distinction evidence #4

On Tuesday I had library duty. Once the bell rang I headed over to the library but it was locked so I waited outside for Mrs Ward. She was a little late back as she got held up doing the dishes in the staff room as she was on dish duty.  Once we got inside I looked over at the trolley and there was so many books to put away so I got to work.  As soon as I had started Hannah and Victor came and I told them that there was a lot of books to put away.  After all the books were put away I sat down at the issueing desk because someone wanted to get a book out.  For the rest of lunch I sat at the issueing desk and Hannah and Victor took turns.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my library duty.

science

Week 2
In week 2 in science we did a test to see how much we know about science words like insoluble and soluble if we know what they meant we put them together and then the teachers look a them at see the rough data and then they do experiments on the words that we don't know.

Week 3-5
After the test we did science on a Wednesday and on a Thursday.  On Wednesday we did science as a group and we did experiments.  We were split into 3 groups and we rotated around.

Week 6
In week 6 we did the some test that we did in week 2 and we used our knowledge for the past 3 weeks.  The test was the solo hexagons that we did in week 2.  When we linked them we had to write why they were linked.

Term 3 reflection

In term 3 there has been some ups and downs for me here are my 3 things that I have done well in term 3.
  1. I have been getting all my work done to a high standard and completing in the time frame we have been given.
  2. I have been getting all my home work done so I can do Discovery on Friday.
  3. I have arrived at school on time for the role on Tuesdays.
Now here are 3 things that I have not done so well this term.
  1. I have not been transitioning that well.
  2. I have been talking a bit when we are learning.
  3. I need to ask more questions because I am quiet.

Discovery

In Discovery I am in a group with Victor and Alex and we are doing What is better Apple I-phone 6 or Samsung S6.  We have lots of questions that we are wanting the answer so we have to cover all of the main point of the phone.  In our research we have to find 3 sites that are the same and then we can prove that it is whatever.  After all our research is done we have to create a slide show on what we have learnt and what phone is better.

Reading, Writing and Maths

Reading
In reading in the boys class we are still doing your before, after and must do's actives and my latest reading activity was on a cricket game that someone's granddad was telling his grandson.  We only got our before activity because we had a lot of things on.

Writing
In Writing we have been doing persuasive speech's and we had to present them to our class and then if you were in the top 3 yr 7's and the top 3 yr 8's went against the girls and the 1st place yr 7 and 8 went to the Ellesmere speech compaction.

Maths
In maths we have planed our new program but we have not started it yet.  First we do a test and then we get our results and we chose some goals from our incorrect side and then we move our photo to the first goal that we chose.  After that we do a process that is workshop on the goal, then we do an activity on our goal and then we have a conference if we still don't get it, and after that we do an activity on IXL and if we get 100% we have passed our goal and we can move onto another goal.

Senior Librarian distinction evidence #3

On Tuesday I went to the library to read a book but Mrs Ward was short a librarian so she asked me if I would like to help out so I stepped in.  Mrs Ward had lots of jobs to do but she got me to stamp Oaklands School on to some new school  journals.  There were 5 box's and all of them had around 50 books in them.  She also had Sharna and Xanthe helping.  Sharna was stamping like me and Xanthe was tapeing the books.  Some people came up to me and said is doing librarian fun so I said yes and I encouraged them to do it in year 7/8.  After they were gone I got back to work and at the end of lunchtime I had ended up doing 2 full box's which helped Mrs Ward out a lot.   I showed leadership by helping around the school when asked.

Technology at Lincoln distinction evidence #5

On Tuesday I had to get to school at 8:15 because I had technology at Lincoln.  When we were lining up there was only 1 bus so the other group had to wait but as soon as we left the other bus came.  Our bus that we were on was a tour bus so we had to respect it like we respect the other bus's.  When we got there I headed to workshop and got straight in to my work. Mr Bowers just said that we know what to do so I got into painting my speaker box.  When I looked at it the paint had dried and last week the yellow was looking a bit green so I made a lighter yellow but I ran out so I just sanded the paint off and repainted it.  I got about 2 coats done on each side so I think I will get it finished.  For the rest of the day at Lincoln I just painted and waited for the paint to dry. I showed leadership by being careful when I was using the paint because it could have gone everywhere.

Friday 18 September 2015

P.A.L.S distinction evidence #3

On Friday I had P.A.L.S duty but things didn't turn out that well.  After the bell rang at 12:40 I went looking for Isabella but all of her friends said that she was sick so then I went looking for Poppy but she  was watching the talent show that was on in the hall.  I told her that we had P.A.L.S but she wanted to stay and watch.  Next I went looking for other people to help me do my duty but everyone I asked said no or was either watching the talent show. After that I told Mr Muller and he said to not worry about it.  After that I went and watched the talent show for the rest of lunchtime.  I showed leadership by being responsible and turning up to do my P.A.L.S duty even though the others didn't bother.

Getting involved distinction evidence #4

Koru games
Over the last 3 days all the students in the yr 7/8's have been competing in the Koru games.  There were 4 sports that we could do they were Netball, Basketball, Touch and Football.  I was playing Football in the boys B team.  I really enjoyed competing because we got to play aganst other schools that we have not played aganst before.  I really improved my skills because as people say the more practice you get the better you will get.  Over all I found the Koru games challenging because in our pool we had the winners and 2 other teams that got in the top 8 teams.  I showed leadership by being respectful to the other players, referees and teachers.

Friday 11 September 2015

Senior Choir distinction evidence #4

On Friday I had to get to school at 8:30 because I had Senior Choir at 8:45 in the music room.  When I got there all the boys from the boys class were there.  Straight after I got there Mr McCullam said that Mrs Harris was sick but the next minute Mrs Harris walks in.  Firstly we did your warm ups and then we sang the national anthem 2 times and then we sang Ring of Fire.  We went through that song about 2 times and we practiced one bit where we were flat.  After that we sang American child 2 times and then we sang our new song.  We watched the video and then we tried singing it.  After that we did the roll.  I showed leadership by listening to Mrs Harris when she was talking.

Peer mediator distinction evidence #4

On Thursday at 1:10 Ryan, Victor and I got the gear from the other group and since they only had 2 members we had to go and get another vest and an I-pad because the other group didn't have one.  After we had got the I-pad we headed out to the field to do our duty.  Once we started walking around it was only a matter of moments until we had a problem to solve.  The problem was about some kids arguing about how someone did something and then they were throwing jumpers at each other.  Straight after that we had another problem to solve and that was just another argument.  After that the bell rang so we had to go put the gear back in the right place and next we headed back to class.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Tuesday 8 September 2015

Senior librarian distinction evidence #2

Today I had library duty at lunch time.  When I got to the library Mrs Ward said that I had to put the books back on the shelve. When I looked at the shelves there was a lot of books so I started putting them back.  Once they were all back in the right place Mrs Ward had a job for me to do.  The job was to staple up the juniors elephant paintings they had made in class and shared at the assembly on Monday.  First we started to tape 2 of them together and then put pegs on the top corners.  I stopped doing that because it was hard for me because I am a lefty.  Mrs Ward got me another job and it was to staple them to the wall.  It was hard but I got the hang of it.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Technology at Lincoln distinction evidence #3

On Tuesday I had to get to school at 8:15 because we had technology at Lincoln primary school.  When we were lining up there was only one bus so my group had to wait. When we got there I headed straight to workshop.  When we were going in the teacher came out and said we had to line up.  Once we got inside he introduced himself his name was Mr Privlage.  After he had introduced himself we got into making our speaker box.  I got straight into painting my box, my box is going to be spongebob squarepants.  I was trying to get the right shade of yellow because the yellow we had looked green.  After morning tea I still had a lot of painting to do so I got into it again.  When we got told to pack up I packed up straight away and helped others.  At the end I still had a lot of painting to do so next week I will have to paint.  I showed leadership by being careful when I was using paint because it could of gone everywhere.

Friday 4 September 2015

P.A.L.S distinction evidence #2

On Friday at 1:00 I got Poppy and Isabella because we had P.A.L.S.  When I finally found them both, I went and got them a vest so we could be recognised by people.  After that we talked and decided what we were going to do.  We finally decided what we were going to do and it was just to shoot hoops on the netball court.  Isabella went and got her friends from the library and they shot some hoops.  We only ended up with about 10 people so it was easier to shoot and they all got lots of turns at shooting.  After lots of shooting the bell rang so we put the balls back and put our vests back in the green bin.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Senior choir distinction evidence #3

Today I had to get to school at 8:30 because I had senior choir at 8:45 in the music room.  When I got there, there was only a few people there but when Miss Harris got there more people came and we got into our warm ups.  Once we had gone through our warm ups we got straight into singing.  First we sang "Here comes the sun" a few times and then we sang "ring of fire" a few times and we practiced certain parts where it was high and low.  After that we got told that we are learning a new song and we got given a lyrics sheet so we could practice.  We went through the first 6 lines a few times and then choir was finished because it was 9:30 and the yrs 5/6 had Te Reo.  I showed leadership by being resilient when singing our new song because it was challenging.

Peer mediator distinction evidence #3

On Thursday at 1:10 I went and got Ryan and Victor because we had Peer mediator.  When we swaped with the other group they only had 2 people so we had to go and get another vest and they also didn't have an IPad so we had to go and get one.  When we went to get one the door was locked so I had to go and get Mrs O's keys so we could unlock the door.  When we finally got an IPad we walked around room's 1,2,3,4,7,8,9,10 and 11 because the field was closed.  When we were walking around there was only 2 people that hurt themselves and we checked if they were ok and 1 was and 1 wasn't so we took her to a duty teacher and she went to the sickbay.  There was no other problems so we just kept walking around untill the bell rang.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Tuesday 1 September 2015

Senior Librarian distinction evidence #1

On Tuesday at lunchtime I headed to the library for library duty because it was my turn.  When I got there Hannah was already there and she said for me to help her put the books back on the shelfs.  When Victor got there he helped Hannah and I put the books back.  Once all the books were back Hannah and I sat at the desk and Victor tidyed the shelfs. After that Mrs Ward said that Victor could go because there was nothing to do.  For the rest of lunch Hannah and I just sat at the desk and issued and returned books for people.  After a while Mrs Ward said for us to close the library and after the bell rang we headed back to class.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Technology at Lincoln distinction evidence #2

On Tuesday I had to get to school earlier than I normally do because I had techology at Lincoln primary school.  When we were lining up there was only 1 bus so my bus group got to go on it and the other group had to wait but then the other bus came.  Once we had sat down there were still a few people standing and there were spare sets on the other bus so those people went onto the other bus.  Once we got there I went straight to woodwork.  Once everyone was there Mr Bowers had a talk to us about  how we sand out box.  He said that we use the rougher sandpaper and use the light stuff for afterwoods.  After Mr Bowers had finished talking we got into it.  First I sanded my box untill it was smoth on all the edges and sides.  After Mr Bowers said yes I could start the put the masking tape on where I am going to put the holes in spongebobs head.  I showed leadership by being carful when I was around machinery.

Sunday 30 August 2015

Senior choir distinction evidence #2

On Fridays as per usual I got to school at 8:30 because I had senior choir in the music room at 8:45.  When I got to class I unpacked my bag and got my SDL checked off by Mr Brown and then headed to the music room.  Once I got there, they had already started the warm ups so I snuck in and started.  After we had finished our warm ups we got straight into singing, first we sang Murasame.  We ran through that about 3 times and then we sang California dreaming a few times.  After that we sang the long white sails 3 times and we practiced 1 bit on it where we needed improvement.  Then I looked at the clock and it was 9:30 so choir was finished and I headed back to class.  I showed leadership by being resilient when singing because it was challenging.

Saturday 29 August 2015

Peer mediator distinction evidence #2

On Thursday as per usual I rounded up Victor and Ryan because we had peer mediator at 1:10.  Once we changed over we had to go and get another vest because the other group had 2 people and we have three.  Once we had all the correct gear we headed out to the field and started walking around.  Firstly we walked across the cricket pitch and went left onto the junior side of the field.  Their we no problems on that side so we went onto the senior side and went around to the senior playground and their were no problems so we went back to the junior side.  There was a little girl crying because see missed her mum so we helped her up and then the bell rang so she just ran back to class.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Te Reo week 6 term 3

W.A.L.T learn vocabulary on Hauora (health).  In Te Reo we are focusing on Hauora (health).  For the past few weeks we have been trying to say our mihi off by heart.  It is challenging but easy at the same time.  Some easy parts are the first 3 lines and some hard parts are our mountain, river and tribe.  In Hauora we have been learning basic words, the words that we are learning are sports.  We have learnt 3 phrases, our main one is He aha Te Hakinakina pai Ki a Koe.  My next step is to say the phrases of by heart.

Writing week 6 term 3

W.A.L.T Write a persuasive argument.  In writing we are doing speeches.  Our goal is that we have to persuade our audience on our topic.  My topic is It's hard being a kid.  We have had about 5 weeks to come up with a speech.  First we do a mind map then brainstorm next we do a draft then we review it after that we edit focusing on punctuation now we are up to publishing on Google docs.  We can also have a conference at any time.  This week we are sharing our speeches with our class.  My next step is to control my nerves because my legs were shaking.

Tuesday 25 August 2015

Technology at Lincoln distinction evidence #1

Today I had to be at school early so I was ready to board the bus on time to go to Tech at Lincoln.  Mrs Ellis was in charge of getting us on the bus today as Miss O was not there. Once we got to Lincoln I went straight to Woodwork.  When I got inside I said good morning to Mr Bowers and then once everyone else was there we continued on our planning of our speaker container and drew up our final design. Once our design was drawn up we next had to colour it in and then we showed Mr Bowers and he said yes or no. If we got a yes, we could tell him our box measurements and then he would cut them out for us. Next, he showed us how to glue our box together and once it was glued together we had to wait for the glue to dry.  After that I started sanding my box so it was smooth.  I showed leadership by listening to the teacher carefully because if we did if wrong we couldn't do another speaker.

Friday 21 August 2015

Senior Choir distinction evidence #1

Today at 8.45am I had Senior Choir practice in the hall.  It was in the hall today as there was a meeting in the music room this morning.  When Alex and I got there, there were only girls apart from us two.  First we started off with our usual warm ups then we started practicing some songs.  First we sang California Dreamin as Miss H said we didn't need to improve much on singing that song.  Next Miss H chose someone to pick which song to practice next.  They chose The Long White Sails so we had to sing that.  We ran through that two times then we sang Slice of Heaven once. After that Poi e once and then we did the roll.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time and being respectful to Miss H and Mr McCullum.

PAL's distinction evidence #1

Today at lunch time I had PAL's with Poppy and Brad. Once we got our vests, I went to the music room to get the long rope for skipping. Once I had the rope, Poppy and I went to the junior netball court by room 22/23. First we had to untangle the rope and after that we went to find some juniors that were interested in doing long rope skipping with us.  After a while we finally found some that were interested in having a go with the long rope. Poppy was at one end while I was at the other end of the rope.  We started doing wiggly worm then some more confident students came so we started skipping.  They all found it rather hard at first but did manage to get the hang of it after a while.  One girl even managed to skip about 30 times in a row. When the bell rung we went and put the rope back in the music room and headed to class.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time to do my duty and respecting the little kids choices.

Peer mediator distinction evidence #1

On Thursday at the second half of lunchtime I had Peer Mediator duty with Victor and Ryan.  Firstly we had to get an IPad and another vest because the group before us didn't have the correct gear.  Once we were sorted we headed out to the field and started our walk around.  First we went to the senior playground but there were no problems there so we headed over to the oak tree in the corner of the field.  There was only one small problem that was very easily sorted out by telling the students to play elsewhere on the field as they were kicking the ball against the fence.  The students were happy to move without any problems. We continued to walk around but came across no other problems.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time to do my peer mediator duty.

Thursday 20 August 2015

Te Reo week 5 term 3

In Te Reo our focus is on Hauora (health).   We have a Te Reo session every Friday at 9:30 till 10:00 each term we have a different subject to learn about. In term 1 it was vocabulary on basic Te Reo words and in term 2 we did a weather report.  I think it was hard to learn because there were lots of hard and long.  This term we are learning Hauora (health). For the past couple of weeks we have been saying a statement it is He Hakinakina pai ki ahau he _______ the line is where we put what we want to say like Kirkiti (cricket), Soccer (poikiri), Boxing (mekemeke) and Rugby league (riki).

Wednesday 19 August 2015

Maths week 5 term 3

WALT classify numbers.  In math we have our new program that is running really good.  My goal is to classify numbers because in my astle console it was in the incorrect box.  First I had a workshop on how to do it.  Next after I had got how to do it I went away and did an activity on factors.  Once I had finished that I went on to IXL and did an activity on factors and I had to get 100%.  Then after I had done that Mr Brown said to do the prime and composite activity.  I have not got 100% yet so I must complete that before I go onto a new goal.

Librarian excellence evidence #4

Today at lunch time I had library duty with Hannah and Victor.  When I got there, there were lots of books ready to put back on the shelves so I got busy.  Once I had done that Mrs Ward had a special job for me to do.  The job was to help label the 40 new Crome books for the use of the year 7/8 students.  This was quite a time consuming job and I had to be very careful not to drop them or knock them when I was putting them back in the cabinet. I managed to get them all done with a little help from Mrs Ward so she was happy about that. The library was rather quite but some of the students in the library wanted to know what I was doing and were asking questions about the Crome books. I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time and respecting the Crome books.

Friday 14 August 2015

Senior Choir excellence evidence #4

Today at 8.45am I headed to the Music room for choir as I usually do on a Friday morning.  When I got there, there we already quite a few people there so we got straight into our warm ups then Miss H took the roll. We have the Christchurch Music Festival coming up at the end of October so we need to do a lot of practice and learn about 12 new songs.  Today we practiced a couple of the songs and they were Ring of Fire, May there be Sunshine and California Dreaming.  We ran through those songs about 3 times each.  I showed leadership by being resilient because the songs are hard to learn and are going to take a lot of practice.

Peer mediator excellence evidence #4

On Thursday I was happily playing football until I realised it was my day to do Peer Mediation.   Once we got our vests from the previous group we had to then get an iPad because the group before us didn't have one.  Once we had all our gear we started walking around the field.  When we got around by the senior playground we saw someone was hurt so we went over and asked if he was ok. He was fine and was happy to continue playing and did not need to go to the sickbay. After that we continued walking around but there were no other problems for us to solve. When the bell rung we headed back over to class and returned our gear to the right place.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Thursday 13 August 2015

Maths week 4 term 3

In maths my goal is to classify numbers.  In maths we have finally started our new program and I am on my activity.  After I have completed the activity I move on to a conference to see how I am going at then I do my goal on ixl and if I get 100% I have passed it.

Koru games term 3

In September the year 7/8's are going to the Koru games.  The sports you can play are football, touch, basketball and netball.  I am in football B.  All we do at the tournament is play the sport we are in.  My goal is to practice hard and do well in the tournament.

Science week 3 term 3

In science on Wednesday we did an test to see if sugar cubes would devolve in water we did lots of changes to it to see if it changed the answer.  Some were hot/cold water, crushed/whole.

Maths week 3 term 3

In maths my goal is to classify numbers.  We haven't started our new program yet so I am going to tell you about the maths revision sheet for week 3.  On our revision sheet on one side there is place value, division and factors and on the other side there is factors and multiples.  I found the place value the easiest because it's easy for me.  I found the factors and multiples the hardest because I don't know haw to do them.

Writting week 3 term 3

In writting my goal is vocabulary an my punctuation goal is commas and contractions.  We are writting a speech and the topic arguments.  My argument is it's hard being a kid.  This means I am agreeing that it's hard being a kid.  To write an argument we must first mind map, brainstorm, draft, review, edit and then publish and we can also have a conference with the teacher at any time.

Reading week 3 term 3

In reading my goal is the same as last week it is to analyse similarities and/or differences of language, written communication and dialogue.  All it is, is to read 2 or more texts and you have to compare them.  Our follow up was a similarity sand differences sheet where we write down the similar things and different thing.

Peer mediator excellence evidence #3

On Thursday at 1:10 I went to get the gear from the people before us but they only had 2 vests so I went to get the i-pad and the other vest.  Firstly I found the vest but when I went to find the i-pad I went into room 25 but the i-pads weren't in there because we had science in there.  Next I went to look in room 24 but it was locked so I told Ryan to go tell Miss O that we needed an I-pad.  Once we finally got an I-pad we started to walk around the field. It was very muddy so we had to be careful where we stepped because there was muddy spots everywhere.  Today there were no problems for us to solve so all we did is walk around the field and watch the children. I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Thursday 30 July 2015

Learner licences week 2 term 3

In room 26 we have learner licences there are 4 stages they are teacher, regulated learner, independent learner and mobile learner.  Last term I was on mobile but at the start of the term they start fresh so everyone is on independent.  My goal is to get back up to mobile.  Here is a photo of the wall were they are.

Maths week 2 term 3

In maths we have new goals as well because we are doing number again.  We did the test in week 1 and we got our console in week 2.  On our console it say our overall score and what questions we got correct and incorrect.  We chose our goal from the gaps box and if there are no goals in it we get it from the incorrect box.  Once we had chosen our goal we move our photo to our goal.  My goal is to classify numbers.

Writing week 2 term 3

In writing we have 2 set goals 1 for punctuation and the other 1 is for ether ideas, vocabulary, sentence structure, structure and language and organisation.  There are 3 punctuation goals they are capital letters and full stops, commas and contractions and advanced punctuation.  My goal for punctuation is commas and contractions and my other goal is vocabulary.

Technology at Lincoln Excellence Evidence #5

On Tuesday I had to replan because I had Technology at Lincoln so I had to get to school at 8:15.  When we were lining up to get on the bus there was only one bus there so the people that were on bus 2 had to wait for the other bus.  We were waiting for 5 minutes before the bus came.  Once we got to Lincoln I headed straight to the hall to start.  When Ryan got there we sat down and started building.  Before we could start we had to all go and see Mrs Scott because she wanted to tell us that we should be nearly finished our design and we only had this week and next week to complete it.  Once we were aloud to start Ryan and I got some popsicle sticks and made seats out of them, After we had stuck them all down with hot glued them down then we were done so we showed Mrs Scott and she said she would mark it for us.  I showed leadership by talking to the person next to me on the bus so the noise level stayed down so the bus driver could concentrate.

Reading week 2 term 3

In reading my goal is to analyse similarities and/or differences of language, written communication and dialogue.  This means we have 2 texts and we compare them to each other.  I got my goal from my astle console, Which is a test that we do.

Peer mediator excellence evidence #2

On Thursday at 1:10 I went to find Victor and Ryan because I had Peer Mediator duty.  When I went to find Ryan he already had the vests and all we had to get was the i-pad.  When we started to walk around Victor got a little bleeding nose and then when we got round by the senior playground it got really bad so we said for him to go to the sick bay so they can clean it up.  Ryan and I continued walking around the field because there was no problems to solve.  I looked at my watch and it said there was 1 minute left intil the bell would ring so Ryan and I started to walk back.  When the bell rang I headed back to rm 25 to put the gear away and then Mr Muller asked me if I could take the Restorative bag back to the office.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Here is my 5 times tables. I hope you enjoy.

2 times tables

Here is my 2 times tables. I hope you enjoy.

Maths week 1 term 3

In maths we have been focusing on measurement but I am going to share my revision for week 1 SDL. For our revision this week we did a work sheet on addition and subtract and fractions, decimals and percentages.  On the fractions, decimals and percentages page we have to convert them from fractions to decimals and decimals ect.  On the addition and subtraction side there is mainly questions about easy addition and subtraction.  There are also some word problems to solve as well.  Here is a photo of the revision sheet

Writing week 1 term 3

In writting we are writting a speech that we have to present in front of our class and the best 2 year 7 & 8's for each class play off for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.  My topic is "It's hard being a kid.

Reading week 1 term 3

In reading my goal is to analyse similarities and/or differences of language, written communication and dialogue.  In reading it has changed a bit but we still have the before, after and must dos but instead of our prediction and vocabulary sheet we have a author purpose sheet.  On our author purpose sheet we have to make an opinion on what the story was about.  The choices are persuasive, informative or entertaining.  Next we do a summary sheet like last term.  After that we do an inference activity.  An inference activity is when the teacher choose's  an article with questions and we had to answer them with the question in our answer.  All of that is called a before activity.  Then we do our teacher session and follow up. All it is, is when we go down to the teacher we talk about the story we read and then the teacher gives us an activity about it.  Now after you have done all that you can do the must dos.  There are 3 activitys to complete for the must dos.  They are a cloze, word study and a article from dogo news with questions to answer.  Once you have done that you have done your reading for the week.

Technology at Lincoln Excellence Evidence #4

On Tuesday I had to get to school early as the year 7/8 go by bus to Technology at Lincoln Primary School for the morning.  When our bus got to Lincoln, the first bus had already arrived as our bus was late to school to pick us up. Once off the bus and in my class, Miss Scott talked to us about what we still had left to do on our design and said that we should be up to the interior design stage.  Once we were allowed to start, Ryan and I got straight to work starting to cut out our cricket net to go around our cricket pitch.  I took three attempts to cut out the cricket net because we could not get it the right size.  After we finally got this right, we started to glue on our cricket net.  Once we had finished that the next step was to cut a door out so the players could get in.  Ryan and I only have one more thing to do on our design then it will be complete.  I showed leadership by being resilient when Ryan and I were putting the net on the cricket pitch because it was very fiddly work.

Senior Librarian Excellence Evidence #3

On Tuesday at lunch time I headed to the library because I had senior librarian duty.  When I got there Hannah was already their and she was putting the books away that were on the trolley and then I joined her putting the books away.  When Grace and Victor got there we said to them that they had to put the rest of the books away because we did them the last time and they were on the computer issuing and returning the books. Hannah and I decided that she would do the issuing and returning till 1:05 and then we would swap so I get to do the issuing and returning as well.  On Tuesday the library was very quite and there was not much to do.  I showed leadership by asking Mrs Ward questions when I needed help on the issuing desk rather than just doing it and maybe getting it wrong.

Saturday 4 July 2015

Senior Choir excellence evidence #3

On Friday I went to school like normal but at 8:45 I went to the hall because we had Senior Choir.  When I got there, there was only 3 boys there but closer to the bell more boys came.  Once Miss Harris got there we sat down waiting for her to do the roll.  After the roll was done we got into our lines because we were performing at the celebration of learning assembly after lunch.  When we were being put in our lines Miss Harris said that the seniors would be in the front row on the floor and the rest of Choir were on the stage.  Next we sang money money money and hallelujah to practice, looking at Miss Harris and not just looking all round the hall.  When we started to sing Mrs Martin came in and asked Mr M how much space we needed and where things are going.  After we had finished singing Mrs Martin said that we need to work on our volume and for Mr M to turn the piano volume down because it is hard to hear us.  Next we sang hallelujah and Miss Harris said that we did very well on the ending.  Then it was 9:30 so Choir had to finish.  After lunch at 2:00 we went to the hall for the celebration of learning assembly. First Kapa Haka opened the assembly and then after they had finished choir went up and sang 2 songs, they were Money money money and hallelujah. When we were performing I was very squished  because there were a lot of yr 7/8 in Choir.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time for senior choir and standing in my correct spot.

Librarian excellance evidence #2

Today after I had finished my lunch I went to the library because I had librarian duty.  When I got there, there were a lot of books to be put back on the shelf.  Hannah said that it was our job this week to put the books away because Grace and Victor had done it for the last 2 weeks.  Once we had put all the books away I asked Mrs Ward what the James Patterson books were like because some people said they were really good and the cover of the books look cool.  So I decided to get the book called "I Funny" out to read.  After that I went for a walk around the Library to see if everyone was ok.  It was a quieter day in the library today as it was Hot Chocolate Tuesday as well.  After I had finished walking around I sat down because there was nothing to do.  While I was sitting down I had a chat to Mrs Ward about books.  I showed leadership today by being in the right place at the right time and remembering to do my duty.

Technology at Lincoln Excellent evidence #3

Today I had to get to school early because we had Technology at Lincoln.  When we were lining up I looked at the bus's and they were not the bus's we normally have because they were bigger and they were Metro bus's that transport people.  When we got on the bus's there was a 1 seater seat so I sat in it.  Once everyone sat down the bus driver said that the bus that we were on was a Metro bus and we had to respect it because it transports people and they want a good bus to sit in.  Once we got there I went to my class and started my room design.  When everyone got there Mrs Scott had a talk to us and said our goal was to try and get our wallpaper all done and move on to the floor and then the interior.  After Mrs Scott had finished talking, Ryan and I started to wallpaper our last wall.  Once we had done our wallpaper we tried to figure out what colour our floor should be and after a lot of thinking we finally decided on a light green.  Once we had cut it to size we stuck it down with a glue stick and moved onto our cricket pitch and wickets.  After we had cut out our cricket pitch we cut out our wickets.  Our cricket pitch was a brown piece of fabric and our wickets were straws.  After we had hot glued them down, we started planning for our net that is going around our pitch.  We got some popsicle sticks and glued them on like a triangle to hold the net.  After we had done four we had to pack up because we had to go back to school.  I showed leadership by being resilient because the cutting and gluing of the wickets was very fiddly and you could burn your fingers easily.

Te Reo weather

Here is my Te Reo weather report.  In Te Reo we have been focusing on the weather I have been practicing my weather report for about 3 weeks I hope you enjoy.

Writing week 11 term 2

W.A.L.T Explane our chosen carreer.  In writing we have been focusing on careers I have finished my board.  You need to put a lot of detail on your board because people are going to be looking at it and they might have a question and you don't what the answer is.  You will here more about my career once we have shared them.  Here is a photo of my careers board.

Old reading from week 7 term 2

W.A.L.T Explore the authors purpose.
This piece of reading is about our normal weeks reading but I am going to share about our story and follow up about happy feet the penguin that washed up on peka peka beach.  We had to make a opinion if they should have saved happy feet or not.  Here is my opinion.  I think they should of treated happy feet and not left him on the beach because it is very good practice for the new nest in wellington zoo.  Also it is great practice for the staff to treat a sick animal.

Maths week 11 term 2

In maths we have a new system. My goal is to find the perimeter and area of shapes.  First we have to find a goal out of our astle pathway then we have to have a teacher session about our goal to know what to do next we do an activity on our goal then we have a conference with the teacher to see if we can go onto ixl and do an activity.  Then we can go on ixl to do a activity and if we master it at 100% we can move onto another goal.  Here is a photo of the maths system you may not be able to see it very well because it is on glass.

Learner Licence week 11 term 2

Learner Licences are just new in room 26 there are 4 stages they are called mobile learner licence, independent learner licence, regulated learner licence and teacher. Mobile means you can work anywhere in the school but you have to ask the teacher.  Independent mean you can work anywhere in the classroom.  Regulated means the teacher chooses where you work.  Teacher means you have to sit beside to the teacher.  I am on mobile learner licence because I stay on task all the time, I finish work to I high standard. My next step is to just stay on task and not talk to people when I am working. Here is a photo of the learner licence.

Senior Choir excellence evidence #2

Today I had Senior Choir at 8:45.  Today it was in the hall because we are performing at the celebration of learning assembly.  When I got there, there were only girls there.  Once Miss Harris got there we had already started our warm ups.  After we had done our warm ups we sang hallelujah but after we had finished singing Miss H said that we were a little flat.  Miss Harris tried a new thing, it was when we sing she says an emotion and we have to sing like it.  After we had done that a couple times we tried singing hallelujah again and they said it was much better but we needed to keep our volume up.  After that we sang money money money once and Miss H and Mr M liked the volume. Then matua Rihari came in and we sang hallelujah to him because it had a Maori verse in it.  After we had finished singing Matua said that our pronunciation was spot on.  Then we had to stop because it was 9:30 and the yrs 5/6 had Te Reo.  I showed leadership by being resilient because we had to put all our effort into the song.

Peer Mediator excellent evidence #1

On Thursday at 1:10 I got the gear for Peer Mediator and went to find Ryan and Victor.  Once I found them we started to walk round the field but we had to be careful because the field was very muddy and wet.  After we had walked round the field a couple times there we no problems to solve so it was a bit boring.  At 1:20 Mr Wallis went around the school ringing the hand bell because the Kakano team had cross country at 1:30 which is the end of lunch.  When the proper bell rang the Kauri team went back to class for the last block of learning before going home.  After I put the Peer Mediator gear away I told Mr McAven that I was at the Kakano cross country because I was a marshal.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Technology at Lincoln Excellence evidence #2

Today I had to get to school early because we had Tech at Lincoln.  Once I got to school we had to be very careful because there was ice everywhere.  When I finally got to class the 8:30 bell rang so I went into class because we had to do the roll to see if people were late or sick.  Once we had done the roll Mr Brown said if we see someone that was late we have to tell them to go to the office so the school knew if they were here or not.  When we were lining up there was only 1 bus there, so bus 2 people got to go on it while bus 1 people were still waiting.  Once we left we could only talk to the person next to us so the bus driver could concentrate on the road because it was very icy.  Once we got there we had to look out for ice so we had to walk not run.  When we got into class we continued on with our room design.  Once we had finished our room we had to wallpaper it.  Ryan and I got 3 of our sides done so we only have one to go.  On the way back there was only a little bit of ice on the road as the sun had melted most of the ice.  I showed leadership by being self aware and talking to the person so the noise level did not get to loud and distract the bus driver.

Senior Choir excellence evidence #1

Today I had to get to school at 8:30am because I had Choir at 8:45am.  When I got there, there were only about 20 people there and with every minute that went by more people came. Once a few more people and Miss Harris got there we started our warm ups.  After we had done our regular warm ups the bell went and a lot more people came and then we sang the national anthem for the Christchurch music festival. After we had sang the national anthem we did the roll so the teachers and office knew if we were there or not.  Next we learnt how to sing Here Comes the Sun and we went through that a couple times.  Then Mr McAven came in and watched us sing till the end.  Next we sang Money Money Money with Sophie playing the drums a few times and then we sang Hallelujah with Mia, Sarah and Meadow playing the guitar.  We went through Hallelujah once and then we had to finish because the yr 5/6 had to go to Te Reo so Choir was finished for today.  I showed leadership by being resilient when we were singing Here Comes the Sun because it was very challenging to sing.  My next step is to open my mouth more so I'm not muttering when I'm singing.

Technology at Lincoln excellence evidence #1

Today I had to get at school at 8:45 because we had tech at Lincoln.  On the bus we could only talk to the person next to us or the volume would get to loud.  Once we got there we headed to our class. I am in design which is in the hall.  We continued with our dream room, I am doing it with Ryan.  Today we finished our plan on paper and then we drew it in 3d to plan out how we make it on our good copy.  Next we started cutting out our room and added our doors and windows.  When we had to go I made sure I got everything and hopped on the bus and talked to the person next to me to make sure the volume didn't get to high.  Once we got back to school we had to wait till 12:40 to get our sausages as it was sausage sizzle day. I showed leadership by being resilient doing our dream room because it was very fiddly and was challenging.

Librarian excellent evidence #1

Today at lunch time I finished my sausage sizzle and went to the library to do my duty.  First I had to put a lot of books away because Hannah and Grace were still finishing there juicies and Victor forgot so I had to go and get him.  Once the other three got there they put the rest of the books away and then I sat at the issuing desk and waited for someone to get a book out.  I was waiting and waiting and then someone finally got a book out.  After that 3 more people wanted to get books out so I had something to do.  At1:25 we had to close the library so we could clean it and put the books back in the right place.  Once the bell rang we had to go back to class.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time for my duty.

Friday 12 June 2015

Senior Choir

Today I headed to the music room at 8:45 for senior choir.  First we did our regular warm ups.  Then we did the roll so the teachers know that we are there.  Next we learnt to sing Mexican Wave for the Christchurch Music Festival.  Mexican wave is about a cricket match.  After that we ran through hallelujah a couple of times then Choir had to stop because it was 9:30 and the yrs 5/6 had to go to Te Reo.  I showed leadership by being resilient when we were singing Mexican wave because it was challenging.

Maths week 8 term 2

In maths we have been focusing on fractions and place value.  My goal is to explain the digits in whole numbers.  My activity is to find the face, place and total of a number.  My next step is to spread my work out so people can see it better.  Here is my work on the top left of the page.

Reading week 8 term 2

Here is my reading for week 8.  My goal is to explore the authors purpose.  First we do our prediction sheet to predict what the story is going to be about ( top left).  Next we read the story in our head and then aloud. Then we do a vocabulary sheet to write down the technical and unfamiliar words in the story.  After that we do a summery sheet so if someone reads it the know what the story is about.  All of that is called our before activity which we do on Monday.  After our before is done we do our must dos or our teacher follow up.  For must dos we had to do a article about a glass bridge and answer some questions and then a reading comprehension sheet about hypens (top right). Our follow up was about writing a made up story about a road sign and what it ment ( bottom right).

Tuesday 9 June 2015

Technology at Lincoln

Today we arrived at school at 8:15 because we had technology at Lincoln. Once we got there we went to our new classroom because we only have 7 weeks in each class so I am now in design.  Today in design we learnt about safety and also started planning for our dream room.  For my dream room I am doing a indoor sport centre with Ryan.  I showed leadership by talking to the person next to me on the bus so the noise level did not distract the bus driver.

Friday 5 June 2015

Senior Choir

Today at 8:45 i headed to the music room for Senior Choir.  When we got there, there were only yr4s and Mr McCallum.  Mr McCallum was teaching some yr 7/8 girls how to play hallelujah on their Guitar.   After everyone got there we did the roll and then went through hallelujah.  Next we tried to sing a little bit of Poi e and Mexican wave.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time.

Sunday 31 May 2015

Choir

On Friday at 8:45 till 9:30 in the morning I had senior choir.  When we got there they had just started to do some warm ups.  Once we had done some of our regular warm ups the bell rang and then we started to do the roll so that the office know if we are at choir or sick.  After that we sang Hallelujah and practiced the ending for it a few times then we listened to Dave Dobbyn's Slice of Heaven and then we had a go at singing it.   I showed leadership by being resilient when were singing Slice of Heaven because it is hard to sing.

Friday 22 May 2015

Senior Choir

Today I had Choir at 8:45-9:30.  First we did a roll to see who was there so the teachers knew where everyone was.  Second we started with our regular warm ups then we sang hallelujah and then we practised the ending of hallelujah for the rest of the time.  I showed leadership by being self aware because I remembered to take my pencil case and Te Reo book with me.

Peer Mediator

On Thursday at the second half of lunch I had my Peer Mediator duty.  My group has changed again Hailey is gone into another group and Victor has joined our group with Ryan and myself.  There was one small problem about a disagreement. that took awhile to sort out but we sorted it out before the bell rang.  I showed leadership today by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Sunday 10 May 2015

peer Mediator

On Thursday I had Peer Mediation so at 1:10 I went to find Abigal and Ryan to do my duty.  Once we got our vests and the I-pad we set of to the field .  There was only 1 small problem that was sorted out by us and a duty teacher.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time and having the correct gear to do my duty.

Saturday 2 May 2015

Peer mediator

On Thursday I had Peer Mediation at the second half of lunch with Ryan and Abigail.  We got an IPad and our vests and when we got out to the field we checked the IPad to see if it had the Peer Mediator app but it did not so I went and get another one while Ryan and Abigail sorted out a problem.  By the time I got back Ryan and Abigail had sorted the problem out. We started to walk around the field but everything looked good with no problems.  I showed leadership today by being in the right place at the right time and working well with others.

Thursday 23 April 2015

Peer Mediator

Today at 1:10 I got Ryan and Abigai and went to the rm25 forer and got the gear we needed to do Peer Mediation. There were no problems so it was not very fun.  We walked around the field a lot of times but there were still no problems so everyone was playing nicely which was great to see.  I was very surprised that there were no problems because the Kakano allways has at least one.
I showed leadership by being at the place at the right time to do my duty.
My next step is ignoring distractions when I an on duty because it is easy to stop and talk to your friends when you are on the field doing your duty.

Technology at Lincoln

On Tuesday the 21st of April it was Technology day at Lincoln and it was also my birthday.  I am currently doing textiles and we are making a 3 piece toy.  We had to practice using the sewing machine and had to sew a square using a straight stitch.  I was quite pleased as I got 5/5 for my practice sewing.  I showed Leadership by talking to the person quietly next to me on the bus and sitting 3 to a seat.  I also listened carefully to the instructions given to me while at Tech.

Friday 3 April 2015

Peer Mediator

On Thursday I showed Leadership by being in the right place at the right time to do my Peer Mediator duty.  As soon as we started walking around we had 2 problems to solve.  Firstly some Kakano children had a problem with teams while playing tackle rugby so we helped them solve the problem by sorting the teams for them. The next problem was children were playing around by the saw dust pile which is out of bounds so we had to then get a duty teacher to help us out.

Technology

I showed My CARE values at Tech and on the bus on Tuesday by sitting three to a seat and talking quietly to the person next to me.  This week was my first week at Textiles.  Firstly Mrs Patterson went over safety and what we will be doing.  We made a key ring which I completed in the allocated time as I showed respect by listening to the instructions given and followed them to the best of my ability.   Here is my finished key ring.

Sunday 29 March 2015

Kapa Haka

On Friday at 10:30 only the performance group had Kapa Haka because Neil Shaskey was in the hall doing Art workshops.  I was angry because I was looking forward to it.  While the others were gone  we continued on with our role model writing.  I am writing to Brendon McCullum because he is my role model.

Senior Choir

On Friday morning at 8:45am I headed off to Senior Choir.  We could not use the hall as we usually do because the art workshop was being held in the hall so I found out we were in the music room.  It was rather a squash for all of us but we managed to still beat out a tune.  The songs we are practising in Choir are Money, Money, Money and Hallelujah.  I am enjoying my time in Choir as this is the first time I have done it.

Tuesday 17 March 2015

Library

Today at lunch time I had Librarian duty with Oscar and Victor.  As it was colder today at lunch time the library was quite busy with a range of students from all years. Some students were happy to sit and read books while others coloured in.  My main duties in the library today were to issue and return books, put books away and make sure the shelves were kept tidy.

Peer Mediator

Today I was a Peer Mediator for the second half of lunch with Ryan and Abigail.  We normally use  I-pads but there were no I-pads available to use because they were having updates done on them.  It was a pretty quiet lunchtime with no major problems for us to solve.

Technology at Lincoln

Tuesday started off with a rather squashy bus ride to Tech at Lincoln for some of the unlucky students that had to sit three to a seat. Once at Lincoln we split into ours groups and off we went.  I am doing Science with Mr Roozen and our group made a Sun Dial. We started out learning about the time centres and then we started our base. The part we were going to put the sun dial on had to be on a 90 degree angle. Once our Sun Dial was completed we took it outside for a trial run but I didn't have any success.

Jellie Park and Multicultural Day

Jellie Park

On the 24th of February the year 4-8s went to Jellie Park for their swimming sports.  The races we could do were width freestyle and width kickboard or length freestyle and length backstroke but we could not do 1 width and 1 length.  In my width races I got 3rd.  After all the races we had lunch and then we had the class relays.  They were length relays so if you were in the width races you could not do the relay.  Then after the relays we had the house challenges.  In the house challenges we went house by house.  The challenge was to get all of the objects out of the pool in the quickest time.  We didn't get to finish all of the challenges because we ran out of time.  By Dylan

Multicultural Day

On the 23rd of February the school held a Multicultural Day.  It involved us coming to school dressed in something that represented our culture/heritage and we also had to bring a plate of food that represented our culture/heritage to share for a shared lunch. You also had the option of bringing in a game or something from your home country.  It was heaps of fun and was great to see so many of Room 26 get involved.  By Dylan

Year 7 camp

Wainui Camp

On the 4th of March the year 7's are going to Wainui camp for three days.  The 5 activities we are doing are Kayaking, Coasteering, Archery, High ropes and Co-operative Games.  I am excited and really looking forward to camp because it will be very different to Living Springs and I will hopefully learn some new skills through the activities we are doing.  One of the things I hope to achieve is to not fall out of the Kayak when doing Kayaking because it is my first time. Bring it on!!!
