Music

W.A.L.T.  I can describe the characteristics of music from a time period.

Every Tuesday after technology at Lincoln we do our Arts rotation.  There is 3 rotations, they are Visual Art, Drama and Music.  I am in music.  In music we listen to songs and we have to work out where the characteristics of music are.  There are 5 characteristics of music, they are melody, form, timbre, harmony and rhythm.
My next step is to identify the 5 characteristics faster because I am not very good at finding them in the song.

Writing an exposition

W.A.L.T. Follow the writing process to write an exposition.

Here is my conclusion for my exposition.  In the conclusion we have to compare the 2 leaders and say who is the better leader.  I did Richie McCaw and Brendon McCullum.

Overall I think that Richie McCaw is the better leader because Richie has led New Zealand to win 2 world cups and he motivates to win games.

My next step is to put more detail in my conclusion.

I can describe mean, median, mode and range

Mean:  You have to add all the numbers together and then divide them buy how many numbers you have.  E.G. Add 1,3,4,6,8,10 and then divide it by 6 it Equals 5.333.

Median:  Is where you put the numbers in order from smallest to biggest and find the middle number E.G. 1,2,4,6,8 the answer is 4.

Mode: The number that showed up the most.

Range:  You put the numbers smallest to biggest subtract the smaller number with the bigger number.

I can read and interpret a range of graphs

W.A.L.T.  I can read and interpret a range of graphs

For maths I have been learning to read and interpret a range of graphs. This relates to the National Standards as it meets the criteria of:

  • I can compare distributions visually (Year ⅞ Standard)

Here is link to my Statistical Literacy spreadsheet Statistical Literacy.  Which shows all of the graphs and tables I can read and interpret.

I have also compared and contrasted some of the graphs. Below are the links to them

My next step is to use these in my leadership investigation next term.

My Argument

For writing we have been learning to write an argument using the writing process. The topic was “Are Devices Taking Over Our Lives”. I choose that devices are taking over our lives.

Something I did really well in my writing was Put my writing in paragraphs and elaborate on my ideas.

Here is a section of my writing that shows I can elaborate on ideas really well.
My last example is more phones are being activated each day than babies born, to me that's ridiculous because you can only have a newborn for a short time but you can check Facebook and Twitter whenever you want.  Some people buy a new phone just for the sake of taking photos or checking Facebook or Twitter.  Now for the things that nearly everyone in the world has a phone.

Leadership meeting Merit evidence #4

On Monday at morning tea the 2016 leaders had there weekly leadership meeting.  First we started off by asking questions to Mr Ladbrook.  Next we seperated into groups because we all had different things to do.  The heads and deputies had to write a speech for assembly because we have to announce our poster competition that we are running. The poster competition has started and runs until the end of Term 1.  Hopefully we will have a good response to this. Kyla and I also have to write a speech for opening Tabloid Sports which is on Monday.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to attend the meeting.

Senior librarian Merit evidence #5

On Thursday Jonathan, Madyx and I had our weekly library police duty.  We got to work and printed out the overdue lists.  There was an issue with the printer we normally use, so Mrs Ward had to change the printer settings and print them off for us. Once we had the lists we stapled the reminder card to each class list and then placed them in class order ready for Mrs Ward to put in the teachers pigeon holes.  There is a lot of students who have overdue library books!  We took the year 7/8 lists back to class ourselves once we were done and gave them to the teachers who then told those students that had overdue books to get the books back to the library asap.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time to do my duty.
