Senior Librarian Distinction evidence #9

On Thursday I didn't have to do my library duty because the library is closed for stock take,  I couldn't help out in the library in any other way so I am going to do a reflection post.  I have also turned up to my duty every week except one or two weeks.

What has been the best part about my role: is that you get to see who has got overdue books and you sometimes get to tell people.

Have you helped out any other ways in the library: yes, I have helped out many time in the mornings, at morning tea, lunchtime and after school.

Student Council Distinction evidence #8

On Wednesday I had to leave class at 12:10 because I had Student Council at 12:15.  When I got there, there was not many people there so I went and asked the office to do a ding ding because know one was there. Then they told me that student council didn't start in till 12:25 so they didn't need to do a ding ding.  When I got back to the hall I told Hannah that student council didn't start till 12:25.  When most people got there we did the roll to see what classes were and were not there.  There was 2 classes that we had to go and get, once they came we talked about what is happening on pet day.  We said that the pets go in the hall and the pet parade is at 9:30.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to attend the meeting.

Solve simple linear equations

This term we have been learning all about the Marae. We have learned that…….

  • The Marae is an important focal point for the community.
  • The Marae is a place where tradition and customs can be carried out.
  • The Marae is a place where people can express their values with dignity.

Senior Librarian Distinction evidence #8

On Thursday I didn't have to do my library duty because Mrs Ward is starting stock take and you can no longer get books out from the library.  In the weeks coming we will be doing the overdues because everyone needs to get there book back to the library but it doesn't matter yet.  I have helped out in the library this week by putting books away in the mornings and issuing books for people in the morning as well.  Overall this year in the library I have been very helpful because I always turn up to my library duty, I help out at lunchtime by issuing and returning books and putting books back on the shelf's.  I have also helped out by being in the library practically every morning to help out with any issuing and returning that needs to be done, I have also turned the computer on every morning and got it ready when Mrs Ward was away.  I showed leadership by helping out in the library without being asked all the time.

Student Council Distinction evidence #7

On Wednesday at 12:10 I had to stop what I was doing at put it away because I had student council at 12:15.  When I got there, there was not many people there at all, so I asked if they could do a ding ding and say that student council is on in the hall foyer.  After a while a few more people came but there was still very little people there.  The reasons why people were not there was because the year 5's were away on camp and lots of people were sick.  After that we started the meeting, we couldn't really talk about much because everyone needed to hear it.  What we said was that everyone had to make a poster about pet day saying what date it is and some info about it.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to attend the meeting.

Helping out around the school distinction evidence #5

On Tuesday I had to go to an entrance test at Riccarton High School because I am going there next year.  I got back to school at 11 am.  There was 1 person that was back already and she told me where to go and what to do.  After morning tea I went to the new entrance class because we had to help them do there learning.  Shortly after everyone else came.  Some of us went with one teacher to do some reading and the other people did action stations.  At the action stations they do a range of activities like coloring, shopping (with the little shop from new world), playing with blocks, writing on whiteboards and much more.  I showed leadership by helping out in the new entrance class.

Senior Librarian Distinction evidence #7

On Thursday I didn't have to do my library duty because we are going to stop doing the overdue's because we are going to start seeing if all of the books are in the library.  If they aren't we have to send a letter to them so they can return it before the year ends.  As part of seeing if all of the books are there we close the library and no one is aloud to get any books out because we have to scan every book in the library and there is probably more then 1,000 books in the library.  I have also helped out in the library this week on Wednesday by turning on the computer and getting it ready to be used.  I showed leadership by helping out without being asked.

Student Council Distinction evidence #6

On Wednesday I had to leave class at 12:10 because I had student council at 12:15.  When I got there, there was not many people there so we waited for a bit and then Jack and the other seniors came.  Hannah was not there so Jack had to run student council.  We talked about the end of year fun day and the themed mufti day which is sports.  For the end of year fun day we came up with lots of ideas including sponge the staff, pool activity's, sport games, art, crafts and lots more.  I think it is going to be a good day.  For the themed mufti day we had a choice from PJ's and sports stars.  We had a vote and sports star won by a lot.  After that we narrowed it down to sports because the little kids might not know any sports stars so it is sports.  I showed leadership by attending the meeting and contributing to the meeting.

Technology at Lincoln Distinction evidence #4

On Tuesday I had to get to school at 8:20 because we had technology at Lincoln and the bus left at 8:30.  When we got there I went straight to mandarin because we had it at 9:30.  In mandarin we went over what we learnt last week which was family members.  After mandarin I went back to the cooking class and waited outside for the teacher.  After everyone got there we went inside and washed our hands and got our aprons on.  Next we got told what we were making, it was pinwheel scrolls and scones.  We paired up and each pair did 1 recipe.  I did pinwheel scrolls.  To make them we made a dough with flour, baking powder, milk and butter.  After making it into dough, we made it into a rectangle and put lots of cinnamon on it.  After that we rolled it up and cut it into 8 pieces. Finally we put them into the oven for 10-15 minutes.  I showed leadership by listening to the teacher and being careful.

Treaty of Waitangi

Treaty of Waitangi
In the Treaty of Waitangi we learnt about the basics of the treaty like who signed it, where it was signed and that the Maori and the Europeans signed it. Mr Muller said that it is a very complicated thing to learn about. The thing I found interesting was that so many people signed the treaty. The thing I want to learn more about is what arguments they had when they were signing the treaty.
