Senior choir distinction evidence #2

On Fridays as per usual I got to school at 8:30 because I had senior choir in the music room at 8:45.  When I got to class I unpacked my bag and got my SDL checked off by Mr Brown and then headed to the music room.  Once I got there, they had already started the warm ups so I snuck in and started.  After we had finished our warm ups we got straight into singing, first we sang Murasame.  We ran through that about 3 times and then we sang California dreaming a few times.  After that we sang the long white sails 3 times and we practiced 1 bit on it where we needed improvement.  Then I looked at the clock and it was 9:30 so choir was finished and I headed back to class.  I showed leadership by being resilient when singing because it was challenging.

Peer mediator distinction evidence #2

On Thursday as per usual I rounded up Victor and Ryan because we had peer mediator at 1:10.  Once we changed over we had to go and get another vest because the other group had 2 people and we have three.  Once we had all the correct gear we headed out to the field and started walking around.  Firstly we walked across the cricket pitch and went left onto the junior side of the field.  Their we no problems on that side so we went onto the senior side and went around to the senior playground and their were no problems so we went back to the junior side.  There was a little girl crying because see missed her mum so we helped her up and then the bell rang so she just ran back to class.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Te Reo week 6 term 3

W.A.L.T learn vocabulary on Hauora (health).  In Te Reo we are focusing on Hauora (health).  For the past few weeks we have been trying to say our mihi off by heart.  It is challenging but easy at the same time.  Some easy parts are the first 3 lines and some hard parts are our mountain, river and tribe.  In Hauora we have been learning basic words, the words that we are learning are sports.  We have learnt 3 phrases, our main one is He aha Te Hakinakina pai Ki a Koe.  My next step is to say the phrases of by heart.

Writing week 6 term 3

W.A.L.T Write a persuasive argument.  In writing we are doing speeches.  Our goal is that we have to persuade our audience on our topic.  My topic is It's hard being a kid.  We have had about 5 weeks to come up with a speech.  First we do a mind map then brainstorm next we do a draft then we review it after that we edit focusing on punctuation now we are up to publishing on Google docs.  We can also have a conference at any time.  This week we are sharing our speeches with our class.  My next step is to control my nerves because my legs were shaking.

Technology at Lincoln distinction evidence #1

Today I had to be at school early so I was ready to board the bus on time to go to Tech at Lincoln.  Mrs Ellis was in charge of getting us on the bus today as Miss O was not there. Once we got to Lincoln I went straight to Woodwork.  When I got inside I said good morning to Mr Bowers and then once everyone else was there we continued on our planning of our speaker container and drew up our final design. Once our design was drawn up we next had to colour it in and then we showed Mr Bowers and he said yes or no. If we got a yes, we could tell him our box measurements and then he would cut them out for us. Next, he showed us how to glue our box together and once it was glued together we had to wait for the glue to dry.  After that I started sanding my box so it was smooth.  I showed leadership by listening to the teacher carefully because if we did if wrong we couldn't do another speaker.

Senior Choir distinction evidence #1

Today at 8.45am I had Senior Choir practice in the hall.  It was in the hall today as there was a meeting in the music room this morning.  When Alex and I got there, there were only girls apart from us two.  First we started off with our usual warm ups then we started practicing some songs.  First we sang California Dreamin as Miss H said we didn't need to improve much on singing that song.  Next Miss H chose someone to pick which song to practice next.  They chose The Long White Sails so we had to sing that.  We ran through that two times then we sang Slice of Heaven once. After that Poi e once and then we did the roll.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time and being respectful to Miss H and Mr McCullum.

PAL's distinction evidence #1

Today at lunch time I had PAL's with Poppy and Brad. Once we got our vests, I went to the music room to get the long rope for skipping. Once I had the rope, Poppy and I went to the junior netball court by room 22/23. First we had to untangle the rope and after that we went to find some juniors that were interested in doing long rope skipping with us.  After a while we finally found some that were interested in having a go with the long rope. Poppy was at one end while I was at the other end of the rope.  We started doing wiggly worm then some more confident students came so we started skipping.  They all found it rather hard at first but did manage to get the hang of it after a while.  One girl even managed to skip about 30 times in a row. When the bell rung we went and put the rope back in the music room and headed to class.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time to do my duty and respecting the little kids choices.

Peer mediator distinction evidence #1

On Thursday at the second half of lunchtime I had Peer Mediator duty with Victor and Ryan.  Firstly we had to get an IPad and another vest because the group before us didn't have the correct gear.  Once we were sorted we headed out to the field and started our walk around.  First we went to the senior playground but there were no problems there so we headed over to the oak tree in the corner of the field.  There was only one small problem that was very easily sorted out by telling the students to play elsewhere on the field as they were kicking the ball against the fence.  The students were happy to move without any problems. We continued to walk around but came across no other problems.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time to do my peer mediator duty.

Te Reo week 5 term 3

In Te Reo our focus is on Hauora (health).   We have a Te Reo session every Friday at 9:30 till 10:00 each term we have a different subject to learn about. In term 1 it was vocabulary on basic Te Reo words and in term 2 we did a weather report.  I think it was hard to learn because there were lots of hard and long.  This term we are learning Hauora (health). For the past couple of weeks we have been saying a statement it is He Hakinakina pai ki ahau he _______ the line is where we put what we want to say like Kirkiti (cricket), Soccer (poikiri), Boxing (mekemeke) and Rugby league (riki).

Maths week 5 term 3

WALT classify numbers.  In math we have our new program that is running really good.  My goal is to classify numbers because in my astle console it was in the incorrect box.  First I had a workshop on how to do it.  Next after I had got how to do it I went away and did an activity on factors.  Once I had finished that I went on to IXL and did an activity on factors and I had to get 100%.  Then after I had done that Mr Brown said to do the prime and composite activity.  I have not got 100% yet so I must complete that before I go onto a new goal.

Librarian excellence evidence #4

Today at lunch time I had library duty with Hannah and Victor.  When I got there, there were lots of books ready to put back on the shelves so I got busy.  Once I had done that Mrs Ward had a special job for me to do.  The job was to help label the 40 new Crome books for the use of the year 7/8 students.  This was quite a time consuming job and I had to be very careful not to drop them or knock them when I was putting them back in the cabinet. I managed to get them all done with a little help from Mrs Ward so she was happy about that. The library was rather quite but some of the students in the library wanted to know what I was doing and were asking questions about the Crome books. I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time and respecting the Crome books.

Senior Choir excellence evidence #4

Today at 8.45am I headed to the Music room for choir as I usually do on a Friday morning.  When I got there, there we already quite a few people there so we got straight into our warm ups then Miss H took the roll. We have the Christchurch Music Festival coming up at the end of October so we need to do a lot of practice and learn about 12 new songs.  Today we practiced a couple of the songs and they were Ring of Fire, May there be Sunshine and California Dreaming.  We ran through those songs about 3 times each.  I showed leadership by being resilient because the songs are hard to learn and are going to take a lot of practice.

Peer mediator excellence evidence #4

On Thursday I was happily playing football until I realised it was my day to do Peer Mediation.   Once we got our vests from the previous group we had to then get an iPad because the group before us didn't have one.  Once we had all our gear we started walking around the field.  When we got around by the senior playground we saw someone was hurt so we went over and asked if he was ok. He was fine and was happy to continue playing and did not need to go to the sickbay. After that we continued walking around but there were no other problems for us to solve. When the bell rung we headed back over to class and returned our gear to the right place.  I showed leadership by being in the right place at the right time to do my duty.

Writting week 3 term 3

In writting my goal is vocabulary an my punctuation goal is commas and contractions.  We are writting a speech and the topic arguments.  My argument is it's hard being a kid.  This means I am agreeing that it's hard being a kid.  To write an argument we must first mind map, brainstorm, draft, review, edit and then publish and we can also have a conference with the teacher at any time.
