Senior librarian Distinction evidence #1

On Thursday once the 12:50 bell rang I went to the library because I had library police duty.  Once again I was alone this week because my 2 partners forgot.  When I got there I asked Mrs Ward if she had printed the overdue lists and she had so it was a job saved for me.  After she gave me the lists I got a stapler and scissors, and got to work.  There is not many overdue books at the moment so it is really good for me because it is less work for me.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to do my library police duty.

Student Council Distinction evidence #1

On Wednesday I had to leave Voice to Voice at 12:15 because I had student council.  When I got there lots of other people were already there.  Next Mrs Trotter came so we did the roll to see who was and was not there.  After that we talked about the Google doc that we had to fill out.  We had lots of drama because some people didn't get it emailed to them and some people hadn't filled it out.  So the homework is to fill out the doc.  For the rest of the meeting we talked about why people haven't filled out the doc.  I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to attend the meeting.

Student council Excellence evidence #10

On Wednesday I had to leave class at 12:15 because I had student council in the hall foyer. When I got there, there were already some people there and then one minute later Hannah and Jack came.  Firstly we did the roll to see what classes were and were not there.  After that we sent some runners to get the classes that were not there.  At the meeting we talked about the future of the school and we gave feedback about what our classes said last week.  We got lots of ideas back which was great.  Overall the good ideas out weighted the bad ideas.   I showed leadership by being at the right place at the right time to attend the meeting.

I can apply my knowledge of adverbial clauses and connectives to see how ideas are linked in texts.

Screen Shot 2014-10-09 at 11.04.56 am.pngI can apply my knowledge of adverbial clauses and connectives to see how ideas are linked in texts.

For reading I have been learning about adverbial clauses. I have found this learning Easy because you get the hang of it easily.

In this activity, I had to find the adverbial clauses in the sentence and then highlight it in green.

Information report writing

W.A.L.T write an information report about christchuch's waterways.
Here is my writing on christchuch waterways.

The water cycle ( also known as the Hydraulic cycle)  is a process that water goes through between land, ocean and atmosphere.  The water cycle is a recycled process because no water is added.  During the water cycle the water changes state, it goes from being a liquid to a solid and then a gas.  The water cycle goes through a series of stages.  The stages are Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation, runoff and groundwater.

Evaporation
Evaporation is when the sun heats the water and then the water turns into water vapor.  When the water changes into water vapor it becomes invisible so you can not see this stage happening.  The Evaporation stage happens quicker when the sun is on the water for long periods of time.  Also when the sun has been on the water for a long time the water can heat up to about 100 degrees.  Next the water vapor rises up as a gas and then forms clouds called Condensation.

Condensation/Precipitation
Condensation is when the water vapor forms clouds and Precipitation is when the clouds get too heavy and it rains, sleets, hails or snows.  When clouds form it is made of liquid water and ice.  The currents in the air make the clouds move from one place to another.  Since it is so cold in antarctica it always snows and never rains because the rain freezes into ice and snow.  The next stage is when the rain, sleet, hail or snow has fallen and it goes through the next stage called Runoff and Groundwater.

Runoff/Groundwater
Runoff is when the water runs off the mountains and flows back to sea.  Groundwater is a underground water storage. Some water never makes it back to the ocean because it gets stuck in rocks.  Runoff is water that didn’t get infiltrated(Didn’t sink through dirt.)  Groundwater is a underground water supply which goes to people, wells cities and the ocean.

Overall the water cycle is a never-ending process; it has 5 main stages to make it work they are Evaporation, Condensation, Precipitation, Runoff and groundwater.
